What to expect at the event

Vendors
We have a wide variety of vendors at Future House 2025, showing the range of ways that you can save money on your energy bills while reducing your environmental impact. From solar technologies and sustainable roofing to eco-conscious cleaning products, there’s something for every green-minded homeowner. Explore, learn and connect with local businesses that provide these services.

Presentations
Our list of engaging talks, workshops and demonstrations are designed to answer your questions on a variety of topics. In addition to speakers, E-vehicles from several local car dealerships will be on display and local environmentalist, Harold Dickert will offer a hands-on workshop in tree & shrub pruning. Or stop by the Sustainable Milton booth to calculate your carbon footprint.

Door prizes
All adult attendees will receive a ticket for the Door Prize draws when you arrive in the Banquet Room. If you pre-register for one of the presentations, you’ll get an extra ticket and more chances to win! Maybe you’ll be the one to take home an Ecobee Smart Thermostat or a gift certificate for Sparkling Green.

Children's area
Future House 2025 is a child-friendly event. Admission is free and families are welcome. Our Youth Team will be leading Eco Storytime and crafts, focusing on environmental themes and designed to inspire young ones to care for our planet.

Sustainable Home Renovations: healthy for you, the environment, and your budget.
Presented by keynote speaker Bettina Hoar of Sustainable Buildings Canada. Bettina is the Board Chair of Sustainable Buildings Canada and a Sustainability Facilitator. She founded Sage Living Toronto, a sustainable building consulting firm with a focus on comfort, health & wellbeing in the built environment. Bettina regularly lectures and speaks about health and well-being in the built environment and mentors student at colleges and universities throughout Canada.

Presented by Bluewater Energy, a renewable energy design firm and electrical contractor. They specialize in solar, energy monitoring, battery storage, backup generators and electrical contracting.

Healthy Homes - Temperature, Air Quality, Emergency Power
Presented by Jim Feilders of Jade Environmental Services. Jim is an engineer and owner of an eco-home that he built himself. Having worked as a consultant for clients under the FIT and microFIT solar electric programs, he has transitioned into providing assistance with homeowners wanting to reduce energy use and cost while also reducing carbon emissions.

Garden Design for Rainwater Management
Presented by Sean James of Sean James Consulting & Design. During his over 40 year career focusing on eco-gardening techniques, he has won awards, been featured on CBC, and has been a part of creating the new Ontario Landscape Tree Planting Guide, the Grow-Me-Instead guide, the Ontario Horticultural Apprenticeship Curriculum, the national Red Seal Occupational Standard, and the Master Gardeners Reference Manual.

Presented by Brooks Heating & Air, a local HVAC contractor that specializes in providing homeowners with environmentally sustainable heating and cooling options including heat pumps. Recently designated a Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) Heat Pump Champion!
